un retour sur la vie simple - $20 (CAD)
Dealing with my father’s Alzheimer’s throughout my adolescence was a devastating experience. I’d always reminisce about my father’s past and wonder about his future decline while failing to acknowledge his present self. As his Alzheimer’s started to develop rapidly in my late teens and reached a new level in late 2020, I knew I had wasted valuable time as a move was imminent.
A couple of weeks before my father’s move into a residence, I drove out to photograph near a small town. I repeated this near a couple more towns, then capturing these landscapes became a habit over the following six months. There is no single answer to why I started doing this, but the more I photographed, the more my never-present mentality towards my father went away and the more I became reacquainted with his timeless character.
